We meet in the scenic and historic peninsular of the Yucatan, cradle of the Maya civilization, which 1,100 years ago dazzled Mesoamerica with its brilliant achievements in architecture and construction, in mathematics and writing, in jewelery and pottery. Today, that peninsular lies at the Northwest corner of the region that wa have adopted as our frame of reference and of concern.
That technology - especially the Internet - has virtually eliminated the significance of physical distance in communication. A world where a supranational economic authority in the form of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has come into existence. A new new round of negotiations in the WTO is schedule to begin next month.
