CWC 2007 is a salutary lesson to the Caribbean on dealing with globalisation. Hosting of the tournament provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the region and develop non-traditional tourism markets. But it is turning out to be a financial and public relations disaster. The blame game is on and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is being made out to be the villain.

I do not agree. If there was a bad agreement with the ICC, it is we in the Caribbean who must take the responsibility for having negotiated it…
