WHILE the warplanes of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) continue to facilitate the anti-Moammar Gadhafi rebel forces to take full control of Libya, there are increasing reports of racist killings and torture against black Africans accused of being mercenaries of the deposed Libyan president…

Thanks Rickey for your principled exposure–the only one I have seen in the Caribbean media.
According to a report at http://libia-sos.blogspot.com/2011/09/libia-suenan-los-tambores-de-una-guerra.html “International Bolivarian Brigades” are mobilising to go to Libya in response to an appeal for support from tribes supporting Gaddafi. If this is true, we can expect an hysterical Western media campaign to demonise Chavez, Castro and ‘international terrorism’ for resistance to the NTC in Libya.
The report also says that an extraordinary meeting of ALBA foreign Ministers has been convened with the intention of ‘making proposals’ to to the BRICS countries and to UNASUR on Libya. This makes the issue raised in your column even more urgent, for three CARICOM countries are members of ALBA (Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, and St Vicent and the Grenadines). Whll they attend the ALBA meeting? And what is Caricom’s position regarding the racist killings in Libya and the legitimacy of the NATO-installed NTC?
